Chapter 2

Zoey's POV

"What the actual fuck." Xavier gasped. His eyes widened and he let out a small sigh.

"I share the same thoughts with you, bro." I answered quietly. Why did he talk to me? I turned my head ever so slightly to catch a glimpse of the student body. Obviously, those barbies snickered at me hatefully and shot me tonnes of jealous glares. Oh joy. They muttered quietly into one another's ear, before glancing at me. Then, one of the barbies, stood up and strutted towards me like she was having a butt seizure. I don't blame her though; she might be born with this slut-syndrome. Awwwh. Poor soul. I swear it was because of this syndrome that caused her to walk like this and flip her dirty blonde hair every now and then.

"Well hello there, bitch. I suggest you to fuck off and back away from Chris before I make your pathetic life like living hell," her high-pitched voice spat angrily with her arms crossed. We were having an intense stare down before I snickered and flipped her off. She walked off away from me.

"So. My dearest friend, would you be able to explain what the hell just freakin' happened?" Evelyn spoke, amusement and curiosity suffused her voice. She raised an eyebrow and I shrugged.

"I don't exactly know. I just saw that random dude yesterday night and today he just came up to me and like - ta da. This happened." I gestured to the air around me. Xavier and Evelyn nodded and told me to get back to class before I was late. I stood up and began walking off when Genesis wrapped her tiny hand around my arm. Wow, ninja skills. How did she walk over to the other end of the cafeteria without me noticing?

"Zoey, I believe that you know who Chris Martinez is. And who Gianna Taylor is. "

"I'm sorry. But who is Gianna Taylor? And Chris Martinez? I'm positive that he was that guy who spoke to me in the cafeteria just a few moments ago."

"You mean you don't know who Gianna is? Oh god. Well, she's the one, you know, typical queen bee of those cheerleaders. She practically owns the whole school since her father funded the school and her mother is in very good relationship with Mr. Black." Mr. Black is this school's principal. He has thick grey hair and is pretty tall in figure. He's a strict and demanding person when it comes to education and behaviour. His beady eyes kind of scare me a little. "Chris Martinez is the bad boy of the school, but no, he's not a player. He was never seen with a girl and he roams around the school with four other 'bad boys'. Jacob, Caden, Levi and Seth, are the other so called bad boys in our school. All five of them skips classes everyday and does not really care even when they get suspended for a week. They even spray painted the library and the cafeteria once. Seth's Chris best friend, they've known each other since they were 5." Genesis ended her lecture and smiled at me while she pushed her glasses higher up onto her nose bridge.

Okay... So Jacob, Caden, Levi, Seth and Chris. Typical bad boy names.

"I think you better stay away from those people, they aren't exactly good news, you know?" Genesis spoke thoughtfully. I shot her a small smile and nodded.

I was shoving my textbooks into my locker when I started hearing footsteps behind me. I turned around and nobody was in sight. Oh wow, just great. I'm delusional now. I averted my attention back to my locker.

"Boo."

I jumped up ten feets in the air and placed my hand over my pounding heart. Oh my geez. That was one hell of a scare. My breathing came in ragged gasps as I struggled hard to take in deep breaths to calm my frayed nerves. I looked up and guess who.

Chris freakin' Martinez.

Oh come on, life. Why do you hate me so much?

"Are you freaking cray? I could have died out of a heart attack or something." I glared hard at him. He chuckled, and that, earned him a death glare from me. Seriously? What's wrong with this boy's brain? I just snapped at him and he chuckled?

"You know, you are cute when you are angry." and there goes those butterflies in my stomach. I slammed my locker door shut and walked away from that jerk.

"Zoey? Zoey! Where are you going?" he shouted out from behind. I rolled my eye and flipped him off.

"Away from you!" I shouted back as I exited the entrance. I put on my ear phones and the sweet melody began playing. Then, I heard footsteps from behind me again. I swung my head around to see a smirking Chris. What was that smirk for?

"May I help you?" my heart was pumping slightly faster than usual.

"Ride with me." Chris blurted out.

Chris' POV

That girl. I don't know what was wrong with me, but after that short encounter with that girl yesterday, my mind never seemed to be able to stray away from her. She looked so beautiful. Even in the dark, I could still see her hazel brown eyes shimmering enchantingly. She's pretty tall for a girl though, and she looked really cute in that thin sweater yesterday. I love how her silky hair flows down her chest. Her eyes. Her lip. Her stuttering. Her blush. It's just - ahh, perfecto.

I was late, as usual. I finished my cereal and rushed out of the house as fast as possible. I hopped on my BMW and started the ignition. It roared to life and I sped my way down the street, all the way to the school.

Within a few minutes, I was at the school. The parking lot was empty by now since the first period had already started. I jumped off my baby and began making my way to the homeroom.

"Mr. Martinez. " Oh crap.

"I would be very pleased, if you try to report to school on time. It's actually not that difficult. " Mr. Black spoke in a hoarse voice. I'm pretty sure he used to work as a full-time anger management instructor or a part-time discipline master. I mean, look at him. His face practically screamed, "Come at me, bro. Show me what you've got, you'll only end up getting suspended. " with his thick brows furrowed and his mouth always displaying a grumpy frown. He's around his late fifties and is oppressive as hell.

"Oh come on brother, don't be so grumpy. I'm just late by a few minutes. And I don't exactly give a damn about my punctuality, you know, just saying." I ended my explanation with shrug. I knew that will annoy him.

"Detention, now!"

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you earn detention.

---

I spent my first four periods in the detention room, with my earphones plugged in. I dozed off soon and again, my mind drifted to that brunette I met yesterday. I really hope I could see her again.

I left the detention room so that I could get my food. Just as I sauntered through the entrance of the cafeteria, everybody in the room quietened down. Typical. I thought. Unknowingly, I started scanning the whole cafeteria, in hopes of spotting a particular brunette. She might not even be in thisschool. A voice in the back of my mind spoke. Oh right. She might only be here to visit her friends? Or she was here to find -. My thoughts were cut short when I spotted a disgustingly familiar silhouette.

It's her! For some reason, my heart did a little somersault when the thought of another possible encounter with her flashed across my mind. Subconsciously, I began making my way towards her. She had her back facing me. Trying my best to keep my cool, I gave her a gentle pat on her shoulder.

"Hey." I began my approach.

"Hey? Okay. Hey." she continued. I chuckled at how adorable she sounded.

"I'm Chris Martinez. You?"

"Zoey Summers."

"Nice name."

"Erm. Thanks, I guess?"

"Yeah. I'll see you around."

She gave me a curt nod and I walked off, with a smirk. Once I was out of the cafeteria, in the empty hallway with not many people around, my smirk broke into a full grin. My inner self did a small hooligan dance on behalf for me.

Zoey Summers. That name suits her so damn perfectly.

---

The bell rang, indicating the end of the day's lessons. I ran out off the lab so quickly, I'm 99.99% sure that Sonic was jealous of me. Sorry Sonic, but what can I say? I work out on a daily basis. It doesn't take Albert Einstein or Thomas Edison to figure out that I'm fit as hell. I ruffled my hair and started walking down the hallway.

From a distance, I caught sight of Zoey. She was emptying her backpack while shoving her textbooks into her locker. She had her back facing me. Bad move, Zoey. Bad move.I crept towards her stealthily. I'm guessing that my traitorous shoes must have made some noise while I was moving, since Zoey turned around and stole a few glances before turning her back towards me again. Fortunately, my reflexes co-ordinated with me, I managed to find myself a pillar to hide behind.

I made a mental note to start hating on this pair of boots.

As I neared her, I inhaled the lovely scent of her. She smelled like a mixture of vanilla and flowers. It's just absolutely enticing.

"Boo." I whispered loud enough for her to listen. She jumped up into the air, her hand flew up to her heart. I chuckled quietly at her reaction.

"Are you freakin' cray? I could have died out of a heart attack or something." she shouted while shooting a few death glares at me. I chuckled again.

Dayum. She's so cute when she's angry.

"You know, you are cute when you are angry." I stated. She slammed her locker door shut and walked away from me.

"Zoey? Zoey! Where are you going?" I hollered out loud. She ignored me, so I ran after her.

"Away from you!" was all her reply as she exited the school through the school's main entrance. I continued to run after her. When I was about a few feets near her, she swung her head around to face me. Curiosity burned on her face.

"Erm. May I help you?" she enquired skeptically.

"Ride with me." I blurted out before I could refrain myself from saying that.

What the hell is wrong with me?
