Chapter 2

~Lucien~

Ring! Ring! Ring!

Waking up to the sound of insistent ringing of the bell, I squinted my eyes open as I made my way out of bed. It was today, my wedding.

It all seemed unreal to me as I never expected myself to get married, not now, not ever. I've always loved being alone, it was the most beautiful things life had to offer me.

My mind flashed with memories of my past, how I was bullied and treated like an outcast because of my origin. I had nothing to do with existence yet I took the blame for being born.

Swinging my door open, I made my way to the courtyard. Inhaling nature's gift, I sat quietly closing my eyes as I delved deep into my thoughts. What was she like?

My wife to be, Freya Hawthorne is the Luna of a powerful clan. But I never really got a clear description about her. All I have is, she's Luna.

"Prince Lucien," Gabriel, my trusted butler called out to me. He was the only one who treated me with love.

"Yes?"

"Everything's ready inside, don't want to be late," he said, bowing gently as he departed.

Watching his departing figure, I exhaled sharply, making my way back inside. Arriving in my room, I took off my clothes as I took hastened steps towards the bathroom.

Taking a quick bath, I made my way to the dressing room. I looked at the three piece attire which was laid out orderly.

Sigh!

Taking deep breaths, I slid into the material, it's cotton feel hugging my skin tightly.

I slid my hands into the black gloves on the side as I doused my face with a mask concealing my features.

"Prince Lucien, your carriage awaits," Gabriel announced as he approached me from behind.

Turning around, I strode out of the room making my way towards the carriage. We began our journey swiftly. Beneath the fabric of the gloves, I could feel my palms getting sweaty.

In a short while, we arrived at the mansion. Making my way into the mansion, the rumors and murmurs from the crowd filled my ears.

"I heard she's marrying the devil's son!"

"I heard she was sold."

"He's so hideous, words can't describe his looks."

I chuckled darkly as I walked past them. Hideous? Me? I know I'm not that attractive, but hideous is a strong word. I couldn't wait to prove them wrong during the wedding.

"Welcome Prince Lucien of the blood moon pack!" The priest announced as I arrived at the entrance.

An eerie silence engulfed the room as dreaded gazes fell on me. I strode into the hall, my eyes fixed at the alter. I couldn't wait for this to be over with.

"Right this way, Prince," the priest said motioning for me to stand at the right.

Adjusting my position, I patiently waited for the bride. Standing for an hour, I began getting agitated as my feet began to go numb.

Could she have run away? I wouldn't blame her, she'd probably be scared stiff due to the rumours about me.

"Welcome the bride, Freya Hawthorne!"

Hearing the priest's voice, my eyes drifted, sweeping across the hall in curiousity. Watching the woman who walked down the aisle, I narrowed my eyes sneaking a peek through her veil. She was beautiful. Her sapphire blue eyes glistened from her veil, her slightly plum pink lips inviting as she bit them nervously.

As she took her stand on the alter, I quickly dismissed the thoughts I had about her.

"We're gathered here today to join Freya and Lucien in an unbreakable bond," the priest said as he began the wedding procedures.

I couldn't help but wonder what was going through her mind. It was clear from the expression on her face she was terrified, lost in thought about something.

"Unveil your bride!" The priest said, his gaze fixed on me.

Drifting my gaze to Freya, I noticed how nervous she was. Taking a deep breath, I motioned my hands towards the sides of her veil, taking it off gently.

Looking at the woman in front of me, I was captivated by her beauty. Her sapphire blue eyes glistened under the light, the diamond jewelry extenuating her beauty. She was a masterpiece.

I noticed her eyes widened as she began taking steps forward, eating the distance between us. Could it be because I stared at her for long?

Quickly, I averted my gaze. I didn't want anything to do with her. Definitely not intimacy, I only agreed to this proposal so I could have leverage enough to stop my uncle's plans. I can't forget my goal.

"Prince Lucien, you need to take off your mask as per custom," the priest said as he chuckled nervously.

Exhaling sharply, I took off my mask swiftly as I twisted my neck a bit.

Gasp!

The hall let out shocked gasps leaving me to wonder, what really happened? Reminiscing on the rumors that was spread about me, I couldn't help but chuckle slightly as I'd proved them wrong.

"You may exchange your vows," the priest announced drifting his gaze from Freya to me.

Agitated, I responded coldly, "I have nothing to say."

"Do you have anything to say?" The priest asked fixing his gaze on Freya.

"No," she responded, timidly shaking her head.

"With the power vested in me, I pronounce you mates!" The priest announced.

The hall roared with cheers as applauds filled the air. It was unreal, but safe to say, I'm married.

"You may kiss the bride," the priest said excitedly.

Gasp!

I was shocked. Kiss her? I don't know this woman from anywhere and they expect me to kiss her?

The hall suddenly went into deafening silence as their gazes fixed on us.

Exhaling sharply, I wrapped my arms round her waist pulling her into my embrace. Cupping her face with my other hand, I took her lips in mine.

Sucking on her lower lip, I engulfed her taste in my lips. She tasted like dark chocolate mixed with strawberries. Her hands encircled my neck deepening our kiss. Her lips followed the movement of my lips, making me come to the realization this was her first kiss.

The hall roared with cheers once more as I pulled away from her swiftly. I felt odd kissing her. Averting my gaze from her, swiftly, I made my way off the stage.

Stretching my hands towards her, I motioned her to accept. Placing her soft hands in mine, I helped her off the stage as we made our way out the hall.

Flowers were thrown at us as we walked down the aisle. Exiting the building, I took a peek at the woman who stood beside me. I was going to spend my life with this woman.

The thought of it made my stomach twist in a knot. I wonder what went on in her mind. Why should I bother? She's just like the others, sooner or later, she'll definitely leave. I shouldn't expect much.

Today marks a new change in my life; accepting Freya Hawthorne as my wife.
