Amber

“Keep a smile on your face. And you are dead if a teardrops.”My dad threatened in a hard voice as he pulled over in front of the Palace's huge gates. I did not pay any attention as he spoke to the guards, but after a while, they opened the gates, allowing us in.

He drove straight into the huge compound and I did not pay any attention to my surroundings. I didn't even know when he stopped the car. “Come down and drop acting so slow. You are not a fool.” He hissed and he stepped down from the car. Taking in a deep breath, I stepped down as well and God the palace was a beauty.

“Come on.” I slowly followed behind him and then another guard stopped us when we got to the door.

“Name?” He requested.

“Amber Nasir,” Dad replied and after going through a paper, the guard nodded at another guard who then opened the door for us, allowing us in.

“Remember to keep a smile on your face. Act smart and make sure you get chosen. Don't disappoint me.” I only nodded and we got to another stop again.

“She will go from here. You are not allowed to escort her in.” I breathed out in relief as I did not want that man near me. He made me feel sick. My dad spared one last glance at me, openly telling me with his eyes that he would take it out on my mother and my siblings if I fucked up.

He walked away and I went in my direction. Following the same path as the guard had described. I tried to keep a straight face, but that did not change the fact that I was nervous. So fucking nervous.

The guard asked me to look for a door, saying that would be where I would find the others. I knew that there were going to be 15 girls. The palace was very beautiful and cozy. I kept looking around in awe while trying to find the door with the werewolf crest symbol in front of it.

“Woof.” A small bark distracted me and I looked towards a direction to see a small dog barking at me. I immediately smiled. I had always been a lover of dogs. I found them so cute and loved them a lot. I used to have one at home, but my father killed it because he hated dogs.

“Hey,” My voice was soft as I gestured at the dog to come closer. It was a small white furry dog and she was so cute. “Come here,”

“Woof.” The dog barked at me, but I knew that it did not see me as a threat due to the way it wagged its tail.

“Hii,” I crouched down, forgetting what I came to the palace for. The dog stole all of my attention. Luckily, it came towards me and I was smiling so brightly as it stopped in front of me.

“Aren't you a cute little girl?” I touched her fur, rubbing her head. It was a female dog and she was just so lovely. “What's your name?” I asked, still stroking her fur and I knew that she liked me for the way she wagged her tail and barked at me.

“I’m amber.” I introduced myself and that was when I noticed the leash on her neck. There was a name there. “Zoe is such a nice name you know.” I felt the need to carry her and I was already picking her up from the ground when a deep and angry voice rang in my ears.

“Don't even think of it!” It was a male voice and he sounded so angry. I quickly stood up and Zoe barked, running towards the direction that the voice came from. It was her owner.

“I…i..” My words were suddenly cut off when a man who was carrying Zoe walked out from a corner. My words suddenly got stuck in my throat the moment I saw him and I lost the ability to speak.

He was beautiful. Tall, muscular, and beautiful. I had always known that the werewolves had beauty, but the man who was standing in front of me was just extraordinary.

“You don't go around touching pets that do not belong to you. Especially when you look like filth.” He fired at me and I blinked in shock, not expecting his words at all.

“Excuse you?” He was so rude with his words and it was all because I touched his pet.

“Why are you even here? Are you allowed to wander about?” I suddenly became angry as his whole attitude was uncalled for.

“I'm not the reason why you have a bad day. So don't take it out on me.” My voice was low, but he heard me loud and clear. His eyes darkened and he got even more pissed.

“What?”

“You heard me right. Don't take out your frustration on innocent people. I was just playing with your Dog, that's all.” And aside from the worn-out clothes that I wore, I looked neat.

“Do you know who exactly you are talking to?” I scoffed.

“And do I look like I care? Zoe is such a nice girl and she does not deserve an owner like you. You are so impossible.” That was all I said before I began to walk away from him.

I did not have the time to hang around because I definitely had a lot of words for the rude stranger. I hated the way he acted with passion.

I breathed out in relief when I finally found the door and though something kept pushing me from inside to just run away and forget my family, I knew that I couldn't do that because my mom and siblings needed me.

I would never want them to suffer at the hands of the man who referred to himself as a father and husband. He did not deserve to be called that, not after what he made us go through.
