Chapter 3

The king entered and said. "I'm sorry to interrupt but Ruby we better pack up your goods so that we can be off. I would like to be back in our territory tomorrow." Which is his nice way of saying I don't sleep in another pack house unless I really have too.

"Yes Nick" I said while blushing shyly and walking to my room. I knew that he was trying his best to be ok with all this, but he might flip when he sees the room I was staying in.

I push open the door and I hear his deep intake of breath, and I take a hold of his hand and kiss the back of it as I whisper, you are here now, and all of this is over.

He kisses my head and then heads to my bed which looks like a day bed or small sofa behind his huge size.

NICK'S POV

She is the most beautiful woman in the world. I can't wait to see and meet her wolf and i know for a fact my wolf can't wait either. Her fiery ruby red hair and those gorgeous green eyes. Can't believe that anyone could hurt such a beauty.

"... But they did, growled Gabriel my wolf.."

"I know Gabe and they will get what is they deserve, I'm sure but as I promised our mate I'll give them a chance to redeem themselves!"

"Fine - growled Gabe"

As I finish my conversation with Gabe, I see a box and a small bag being placed by the door by my mate and I look at her puzzled to which she giggles and says I don't own very much so this is it.

Note to self, need to get her new stuff. Whatever she wants! She is a Queen and deserves to be treated as such!

I sit on the bed as she finishes her packing and then hear her brother Sam come down the stairs.

"Ruby i- i- I have something for you"

Sam gives her a box and as she lifts the lid and i instantly see tears in her eyes as she looks from her brother to the box with treasures inside. She goes donw to her knees as I'm instantly by her side to comfort her. I feel the utter broken sorrow flow through her into me and I look at Sam and I see the tears in he's eyes as well.

Ruby starts unpacking the box. There is a lot of photos, jewelry, her Inheritance letter and odd and ends from her mom and dad

"T-thank you Sam" she replies

"I'm so sorry we took and kept those from you. I am so sorry I didn't believe you I swear I wil be better and do better" says Sam

I am speechless and don't know what to say. I look up at Nick and as if he knew he responds

"I'll keep you to that promise Alpha!" I said

"You do that your majesty as I intend to keep it" Sam says with a half-smile

"Ruby are you ready to go to your new home? I asked

" Yes, Nick I think I am" she replied

I kissed her on the lips and helped her up. I took a box and saw Sam do the same.

We loaded the car and Ruby turned to say goodbye to her brothers and cousin. She hugs Sam who says be good and have fun and apologizes again and same with her other brother, Dan. He is a quiet one I've noticed. He looks like he was very tormented and seem relieved that the truth has come out finally. I can understand to some point what they felt and went through after seeing Ruby's memories. What they have been through, all of them, is such a tragedy.

As she headed towards her cousin, I had this very unsettling feeling that I couldn't shake, and I automatically moved closer. As she hugged him, I saw the shimmer of silver and I felt the hard horrid dread ball fall to the bottom of my stomach. He was holding a hunting knife dripping with wolfsbane. I sprang into action as I heard the words; I regret nothing and should have done worse. It's as if everything from there on moved in slow motion.

RUBY POV

I can't believe that this day started so horribly but has ended so amazingly. I had my brothers back. I was so happy words cannot explain. As I hug my cousin, I could feel he was rigid and didn't mean it but i just said what the heck, I'm letting go and I couldn't wait to start my new life with my oh so handsome mate.

Just then I get snapped out of my happy place by a horrible sharp pain in my side and instantly, I feel wolfsbane course through my veins. As I hear Nick shout - "KNIFE " I feel the darkness swallow me whole and my body goes limp.

I looked up at my cousin just before the darkness consumes me, as he says, I regret nothing and should have done worse, and he has hate written all over he's face.

"W-why?" I whispered

He snorts and says - "I've always hated you and it was so easy to get your brothers on board when your parents got killed by the rogues. I could have helped as I was always close by watching you, but it was more fun to watch you suffer" - he says while twisting the knife.

I screamed and started to black out. The last thing I remember before all went dark, was my king mate and brothers ripping him apart. While floating deeper into darkness and finding some weird sense of relaxation and peace there. Floating deeper and deeper into the unknown but knowing deep down that there was a plan and that al will work out and that this was not the end but the beginning.
