Chapter 2: Get Your Divorce Done
Kayden’s declaration left the room in stunned silence.
The Adams family stared at him, their expressions frozen with disbelief.
For a moment, the tension was so thick it felt like the walls might crack.
Then, someone snickered, and the room erupted into laughter.
"Did he just say he’s not useless?" someone sneered.
"This idiot actually thinks he’s worth something!" another chimed in.
An elder of the Adams family shook her head, her voice dripping with contempt.
"Georgia, take a good look at what your sisters married into." She gestured dramatically.
“Mary’s husband gave her a villa on Cloud Hilltop—That's worth over eight million! And Zoey? Her husband didn’t just bring her a villa; he gifted the family a hotel. A hotel! I would say it must be worth at least ten million!”
The elder’s tone turned sharp, her eyes narrowing at Georgia. "And what about this... fool of yours? Not only does he bring nothing to the table, but he’s been freeloading off us for three years!"
Her words set off a fresh round of laughter, and several family members shook their heads in mock pity.
"Back then, Georgia, you were the one we all had hopes for," the elder continued. "We thought you’d make something of yourself. And you did—you surprised us all. Just not in the way we expected."
The mocking laughter grew louder.
Scarlett, Georgia’s mother, could barely contain her anger. Her face was flushed as she glared at Kayden. For years, she’d endured the humiliation of her daughter’s "worthless" husband, and this was just salt in the wound.
But before Scarlett could explode, the butler burst into the room, his face pale with urgency.
"The deputy commander of the South Legion is here!"
The room fell silent. All eyes turned toward the butler.
"What did you say?" Elizabeth asked sharply.
The butler cleared his throat and continued, his voice trembling slightly. "The deputy commander is here on behalf of a Mr. Scott. He’s delivering gifts for Ms. Georgia Adams."
He paused, glancing at the list in his hand. "The gifts are... a Red Phoenix Diamond."
Gasps rippled through the room.
"A hundred-piece entire collection of vintage wine," the butler continued. "A Myriad Tower vila, and... Thirty million cash."
The butler lowered the list, his hands shaking slightly. His face reflected the shock in the room.
The entire Adams family was stunned.
"What... What did you just say?" one of the elders stammered.
The butler repeated the list, his voice steady but tinged with disbelief.
The Red Phoenix Diamond alone was worth thirty million. Only thirty of them existed in the world. Such a large collection of vintage wine was also priceless—impossible to buy even with money. And the Myriad Tower villa in? Everyone in Hiphia knew it was the pinnacle of luxury, worth over a hundred million.
In total, the gifts were worth well over a hundred million.
At that moment, the sound of boots echoed across the marble floor. A tanned man in a military-green uniform stepped into the room, his expression calm but commanding. Behind him, twenty soldiers followed, each carrying ornate boxes.
The soldiers placed the gifts in front of the Adams family, their movements precise and disciplined.
The tanned man turned to Elizabeth and said, "These are the gifts from Mr. Scott. Mr. Scott also wishes you a very happy birthday."
For a moment, there was only stunned silence. Then Elizabeth, her voice trembling, asked, "Who... Who did you say these gifts are for?"
"Ms. Georgia Adams," the man replied, his tone respectful but firm. He then saluted and left with his men.
The Adams family was left in complete shock.
The same relatives who had mocked Georgia moments ago now looked at her with wide eyes, their faces pale.
Elizabeth was the first to come back to her senses. She grabbed Georgia’s hand, her voice almost giddy. "Georgia, who is this Mr. Scott? You must know who he is!"
Georgia blinked, still stunned. "I... I have no idea, Grandma."
For the first time in years, Elizabeth smiled so warmly at her. "Ha, my silly girl, you’re so beautiful! Of course someone as generous as Mr. Scott would fall for you. This is a blessing for our family!"
She held Georgia’s hand tightly, leading her to a seat next to her.
The sudden change in Elizabeth’ attitude didn’t go unnoticed. Jamie, who had been enjoying mocking Kayden earlier, now glared jealously at Georgia.
"Scarlett, you really have an incredible daughter," Elizabeth said, beaming. "With someone like Mr. Scott backing us now, the Adams family’s future will be brighter than ever."
Scarlett, her face flushed with pride, quickly chimed in. "Of course! Georgia was always destined to marry someone exceptional!"
But just as Scarlett was basking in the moment, Harvey, Georgia’s father, cleared his throat. "Mom, Georgia is already married."
The words hung in the air like a dark cloud.
Scarlett’s smile vanished. She grabbed Harvey’s arm and hissed through her teeth, "Will you shut up? Don’t ruin this!"
Elizabeth’ face darkened as reality set in.
Scarlett quickly recovered, forcing a smile. "It’s fine, Mom. Georgia can divorce that idiot anytime. It’s just a matter of saying the word!"
The idea seemed to lift Elizabeth’ spirits. She nodded, her tone firm. "Yes, now that her grandfather is gone, there’s no reason for Georgia to stay tied to that fool. She deserves better."
Georgia’s heart sank. She glanced around the room, searching for Kayden. But he was already nowhere to be seen.
Unnoticed by anyone, Kayden had quietly left the Adams residence.
As the banquet wrapped up, the butler presented an unassuming box, explaining it was a birthday gift from a "Tony" for Elizabeth. Without even opening it, she tossed it into the trash.

Later that night, back at home, Georgia paced anxiously.
"Mom, are you sure you didn’t see Kayden come back?" she asked.
Scarlett, lounging on the couch with a snack, waved her off. "Why are you so worried about him? With someone like Mr. Scott interested in you, why are you wasting time thinking about that fool?"
Georgia sighed, frustrated. "I’m telling you, I don’t know who that Mr. Scott is. And Kayden just got out of the hospital. What if something happened to him?"
Scarlett rolled her eyes. "If he’s gone, good riddance. Maybe we’ll finally stop being the family joke."
Before Georgia could respond, the door creaked open. Kayden stepped inside, his expression unreadable.
