Chapter 5

Scarlette Thompson

"You good?" Kevin asked me.

"Nah.. Just a little bit tired." I smiled.

We just finished our work and again.. I caused trouble but not that big which is relieving.

"Wanna eat something together?" He asked and I shook my head. I don't have that much money left so I can't just eat outside whenever and wherever I want.

"Come on.. it's on me." He took my wrist and we walked together side by side.

"Kevin.. You've already paid me a lot of times." I said.

"Shut it.. I don't want to talk about things like that." Suddenly my phone rang and I took it out from my picket at a great speed.

"Hello."

"Ms. Thompson, this is Erica from T I L E."

"Yes.." I squealed.

"You're accepted, please come to the office tomorrow for the first meeting with the other 4 designers."

"Really? Thank you Thankyou!" I squealed.

"You're welcome, Ms. Thompson. I'll see you tomorrow at 10."

"Yes.. Thank you." I said and she ended the call. I squealed and hugged Kevin.

"Okay.. what happen?"

"At last.. I got a job!" I said and he chuckled.

"Really? So you're going to quit."

"Absolutely.. Today.. it's on me!" I said and pulled him towards my favorite restaurant.

"Where will you work?" He asked as we sat down.

"T I L E company, it's under Lemiere or should I say it's in Lemiere's building." I squealed and he smiled.

"So who's your boss?" He asked.

"Boss?"

"Between the 4 of them?" He asked and I tilted my head not to understand a bit.

"Who handles the company?" He asked.

"I think it's Crystal Lemiere because she was the one who interviewed me."

"Oh I see.."

"How do you know? I mean.." I looked at him suspiciously and he just smiled and winked.

"I just know a lot of stuff." He said and I nodded. We ordered a really delicious pasta along with pizza. We talked for hours until it's to go home. I'm so excited for tomorrow and I can't wait to share this news to my grandma.

"Thankyou." Kevin said.

"You're my bestie and besides.. you always treat me and I promise you I will treat you a lot starting from today." I said and he smiled nodding.

"Okay then.. Tell your grandma I say hey.."

"Sure thing." I said and I waved at him. I walked back to my house and when I opened the door. I saw my grandma currently folding the laundry.

"Grandma! I got the job!" I squealed and hugged her. She chuckled and hugged me tightly.

"See I told you.. you will get it."

"Thankyou and from now on.. I will work hard and get a lot of money to rent a bigger apartment with a big kitchen for you." My grandma loves cooking but since this kitchen is too small, it was for her to cook a lot of things. I want to make her dream come true by having a really beautiful apartment with a big kitchen.

"Now go wash up.." She smiled widely and pushed me to my room.

"Okay." I can't stop smiling and squealing again.

I'm finally living my dreams and I hope I will love the place because I hate quitting. I can't wait to start the first meeting tomorrow. I'm so excited and I promise myself that I will work hard.

I threw myself to bed and looked at the ceiling. Thank you God for giving me this opportunity. I wish Crystal was a really nice woman because I'm afraid if I get a really bad temper boss.

I got up and went straight to the bathroom to take a shower. Freshen up myself and I sit on the bed. I read a couple chapters of a new novel that I borrowed from the library and then I go straight to sleep.

I woke up because my phone rang really loud and yeah it's the alarm.. like someone will call me anyway. I sat up and smiled. I'm so happy.. I jumped straight into the shower and washed my hair. I walked out and dried it real quick. I walked out from my room and my grandma already prepared me a scramble egg for breakfast.

"Excited?" She asked.

"Yes.. so excited."

"After this.. go get change." She said.

"Yesss captain." I smiled and started to eat my breakfast. I walked into my room and brushed my teeth again. I started to do my brows a little bit of concealer and lipstick. I let my hair straight down and changed into my work clothes. I'm ready to go.

I walked out from my room.

"Bye grandma." I said and walked towards her. I kissed her cheek and she smiled.

"I'm so proud of you." She said patting my hand and I nodded.

"Thankyou."

"Now.. go get your ass there." She said and I chuckled. I walked out from my house and went straight to Lemiere's office. Erica waited for me at the lobby to give me my work access card and guess what? It's so cool! It's a white card with Gold letters on it.

Erica led me upstairs and she showed me my workplace and it was quite big. It's the size of my room and it's cozy. I shared the place with one designer later. Erica led me outside and..

"Erica!" I turned to see who called her and my eyes widened. Oh shit! That's Matthew Lemiere. I started to cover my face with my hair and looked another way.

"Yes, Mr. Lemiere."

"I want you to bring all the T I L E files from Crystal's office."

"Yes sir and this is one of the designers that will work for us, Ms. Thompson." Erica caught my hand and turned my body facing Matthew. My hair covered half of my face and I tried to look at him.

"Good morning, Mr. Lemiere." I said and bowed my head down.

"Whatever.. Just go to the meeting room and I'll go there in a bit." He said arrogantly and walked away.

"You can go there, Ms. Thompson." Erica pointed at the meeting room.

"Wait.. I need to ask you something." I said before she walked away.

"Yes?"

"Crystal will be the one who handles this right?"

"Ms. Lemiere?"

"Yeah yeah.. I mean Ms. Lemiere?"

"No.. Sir Nicholas gave this to Matthew and since Matthew had to go somewhere else when the interview took place.. Ms. Lemiere was the one who replaced him." She said and I looked at her in horror.

"What?!"

"I have to go Ms. Thompson. I don't want to get fired." She said and I released the grip.

Oh shit..

"Oh shit oh shit.." I said as I walked around in circles. I walked towards the meeting room and thank God I'm the only one who's here.

I sat down and looked at the ceiling blankly. Suddenly the door opened revealing Matthew Lemiere. I sat down straight and covered my face with my long hair again.

"So.. Which one is your design?" He asked as he gestured to me to go to him. My eyes widened and I got up slowly. I walked to him slowly hoping that someone would come and save me or else I would need to jump from the building. I don't want to get fired..

"I want a fast and active employee.." He said with a cold tone and thank God his eyes stuck on the designs. I walked to him fast and pointed at my design.

"Ugh.. What's so special about this design? Crystal must be blind." Excuse me? I'm right here.

"Explain." He said and turned to me. I tried to put my eyes set on the design to avoid eye contacts with him.

"Uhmm.. Uhmm.."

"Answer it fast!" He smacked the desk and my eyes widened in shock.

"Uhmm It's a conn-"

"Why do you call me?" I turned to the door and saw Crystal walking in.

"Why did you hire her?" HELLOOOO I'M RIGHT HERE!!

"She's good."

"Good?"

"Yeah." Crystal said.

"You're blind." I'M HERE FOR GOD SAKES!

"Nah.. I trust her." I turned to Crystal disbelief.

"Let's prove it then.." Oh shoot!
