Chapter 1: Accident

Moans and grunts filled the room as they both climbed the high cliff together.

Just as she was about to release, Anna's eyes suddenly flew open.

It was the same dream once again! A dream she had a strange feeling about. Who was that man? The same dream that haunted her years ago when everything she had was destroyed. As she laid on the bed, she placed her hand on her crotch and indeed, there was a sticky wetness there. She covered her oval shaped face in embarrassment as it grew red.

'What an embarrassing dream but why did it feel so real?' She thought to herself as she slowly drifted into deep thoughts.

'No! That can't be! I'm still a virgin at twenty five,' She consoled herself as she rose to her feet.

It was another new morning and she was ready to go job hunting once again.

"Go! The vacancy has been occupied and we no longer need you." These were the disheartening words Anna heard for the nineth time today. A former young missus of a wealthy company now in search of jobs. After the incidents that happened years ago, together with the betrayal of her fiance, Anna had shut herself from the world of the socialites and the eyes of the public.

"Sir,I arrived before she did. Why would you give her the job, when you literally said 'first come, first serve'?" Anna questioned with a frowned marred on her appealing face.

"Get out!" These words sent Anna running out of the coffee shop and she totally lost hope. Tears spring in her eyes as her shoulders slumped in dismay.

She walked by the side of the road, seemingly lost in thoughts. Suddenly, she felt a sharp prick in her chest making her shriek as she fell to her knees while breathing heavily.

"What was that? What's wrong with me?" She questioned loudly, still patting her chest in hopes of relieving it but the pain rather intensified.

Suddenly, a loud scream was heard, followed by the loud screeching of tires and a loud bang, loud enough to make someone's ears numb.

As fast as lightning, Anna's attention was focused on the overturned car not far away from her. Judging by the other trailer opposite it, Anna could figure out what had transpired.

Aside from this, her focus was on the overturned car where blood was now dripping from the car. The crowd of people murmured as they pointed but none was willing to help the ones in the expensive overturned car. Gears turned in her head and Anna felt like the blood was calling unto her, asking to be freed.

Before she could understand what was going on, her feet were already carrying her towards the car, shaking miserably due to fear that was unknown.

She pushed through the crowd, her ears deaf to the sound around her with her attention focused on the red blood of the ones in the car. Standing beside the car's door, Anna pulled it open. She appeared more like a walking corpse, her ears deaf to the happenings of the outside world.

She inhaled and exhaled sharply as she stared at the tiny figures in the car. Her brain short circuited as her blood boiled and she panicked. A tear slipped down her face but Anna was oblivious to it as she was so lost in thoughts, staring at the petite bloodied figures of the children.

With shaky hands and ragged breathing, Anna stripped a bloodied child out of the seat and carried her out the car, close to the crowd of people who didn't dare come close to the overturned car due to fear of it exploding.

By the time Anna was carrying the second bloodied child, the ambulance was yet to come and none amongst the crowd of people was yet to lend her a helping hand.

Anna was unbothered by this as the only thing she wanted to do was save these kids.

Minutes later, the kids were out of the smoky car while the driver was given no attention by Anna who appeared to have lost her soul as she held one of the kid's fingers, muttering incoherent words. The kids moved their fingers lightly bit were unable to talk as their fingers were held intermittently in a warm palm. Despite the state they were in, they found the warmth oozing from the palm surprisingly comfortable. They struggled to open their eyes, wanting to know who was holding their fingers but from their blurry vision, they could only detect the outline of her face.

Minutes passed and then the ambulance arrived. Anna's shabby handbag was long gone as she only surprisingly cared about the children before her who suddenly blacked out. She screamed loudly as she clutched her tears in pain while the crowd remained as onlookers.

"Ma'am, are you injured anywhere? Kindly tell us what's wrong with you. Ma'am! Ma'am!" One of the emergency attendants called out to Anna who was now tightly clutching the kids fingers, not listening to a thing that was being said.

In no time, the kids were carried into the ambulance while Anna followed along, oblivious to the questions of the emergency attendant.

She cared not about her now-bloodied appearance as she kissed their bloodied fingers. Anyone who knew the relationship between these four would suddenly find the current situation eerie and strange. Anna was in no way related to these kids and yet, here she was, acting like a mother hen about to lose her chicks.

Her thoughts were jumbled up as she held the kids' fingers, they felt so familiar, yet so distant. This sort of feeling made her thoughts crowded. She really couldn't tell what was happening but holding the kids fingers wasn't enough to calm her palpitating heart.
