Chapter 4. The Prelude to a New Dawn Part 1:

Amelia.

"Tell me the truth, Connelly. You and Wendy have something planned, don't you? Something I'm not going to like? I'm warning you. I've only come to meet Hanna. Nothing else. So spill it now," I said very seriously and decisively to Connelly as we rode the private elevator up to my sister's luxury penthouse in London.

"I don't know what you're talking about," said the redhead, smiling cheekily, confirming my suspicions that they had planned something I definitely wasn't going to like.

"I'm leaving..." I said, approaching the elevator panel to stop it. But that redheaded dwarf was much faster than me. The future top model stood in front of me, blocking my path.

"Don't even dream about it. You have no way out. Orders from your sister," said the attractive heiress Blake.

Seventeen-year-old Connelly Blake was a sinful dream for any man, which drove both her father and her annoying brother crazy. Her modeling career was taking off; she had already worked with the renowned stylist Gred Watson, a friend of my godmother Kimberly's. Despite the Blake men's opposition, she would soon begin walking the catwalks around the world for the major fashion houses.

As soon as the elevator door opened, I knew Connelly was right; there was no escape unless she jumped from the penthouse terrace into the void in a moment of distraction. My sister's luxurious penthouse living room was filled with professionals from various areas of fashion. From the logo on their uniforms, I could tell that they all worked for Gred. He was already waiting for us by the elevator.

“Conny! Amely! I'm so happy to see you both, especially you, mischievous Amely. I know you hate these things, but your sister was very clear. Today is an important day for the Miller family." The dry, rough, irritable Roy William Miller has finally been caught, and I can't wait to meet the woman who had the courage to snare that stud. She'll be here with your sister shortly. Unfortunately, I won't be able to meet her today. I'm on my way out. There's been an issue with one of my VIP clients, so I can't be there. But don't worry; I'll supervise everything remotely. My staff already knows what to do," said the effeminate voice of Gred, the gossip.

Hearing his words about Roy's girlfriend cheered me up, which was precisely why I had let myself be persuaded by the manipulative Connelly. I was looking forward to meeting Hanna. I knew from my sister and mother that Hanna was a medical student in her final year, which was great because I study physical therapy at Boston University. Having someone who shared my field of study was fantastic—a real change from all the architects and economists in my house.

After Gred left, a few eternal minutes passed. During that time, I looked at everyone around me, including Connelly, as if they were my worst enemies. The sound of the elevator opening made me turn around excitedly. I could finally see for myself who had stolen my brother's cold heart.

She stood next to my sister. She was a tall woman, though not as tall as me. She was very attractive with dark brown hair with reddish highlights, and she had very deep green eyes. Not to mention, she had a mermaid-like body. She caught the attention of everyone there as soon as she walked in. This twenty-three-year-old German woman was a real beauty, a wet dream for any man. However, I wasn't sure if her personality was strong enough to survive the intensity of King Arthur.

"Let me introduce you to Amelia Paola Miller and Connelly Blake. One is my sister, and the other is like my little cousin." Girls, meet the superwoman who discovered that my brother is not heartless beneath that steel armor—or at least that he is human," my sister said, introducing Amelia to us. I liked her from the start because she gave off positive vibes.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Hanna Müller. I don't know what this crazy heiress is talking about, so don't pay her any mind. She's had a bad day," Hanna said, introducing herself. I couldn't help but laugh. That pretty German girl had a sense of humor.

"If that idiot King Arthur dares to mess up his relationship with her, I'll make his life miserable. I promise," I thought, looking at Hanna with admiration.

"Hello, I'm delighted to meet you. Ever since Ailan called and told me that annoying Roy had been caught, I've been dying to meet you. Plus, you're studying medicine. That's great! I'm studying physical therapy and have this year and next to finish my degree," I said, grabbing her arm. I already adored her. She would be my future sister-in-law.

"Leave her alone. We have to get ready. We're going to be late. Amelia, this time you're not getting away with it. Today, you're wearing a dress and makeup. Since I haven't been home to keep an eye on you, you've become very rebellious, you little brat," Ailan said, looking at me with that familiar look. My sister was scolding me for my lack of femininity. What a habit Wendy has.

"We finally get to meet you. The Millers and the Blakes have known each other forever. My parents are Roy and Alian's godparents. They're like uncles to the four siblings. My godparents are Uncle Norman and Aunt Yvaine, as well as my straight-laced, humorless older brother Angus, who is your boyfriend's best friend. They're the two most boring people on earth. "Sorry, I don't mean that Roy is boring with you, but rather..." began the effusive and invasive Connelly, putting a hand on her shoulder to calm her down; otherwise, poor Hanna would have run away.

"Why? You know I hate it, and I can't wear makeup. Dad loves it when I dress like this," I said rebelliously, trying to defend my position, even though I already knew that when Ailan had that determined look in her eyes, there was nothing I could do. My sister is more like my mother than she wants to admit.

“If it were up to Dad, he’d put us in a time capsule at three o’clock to keep us forever as we were when we were little girls. He also hates any man who comes near us. If you dress like an eternal teenager, you make things easier for him and Roy. So that excuse doesn't work. Besides, it's an order from Mom. She told me to take care of it. Her exact words were, 'Make sure your sister comes dressed as a dignified representative of the Miller family.' If you want, call her and ask her what that means. It's your right," said my sister, using the ultimate argument. Faced with this, there was no way to fight back. I was trapped.

"Oh, shut up, Betty Boo!" I said irritably to Connelly, who couldn't stop laughing.

I called her Betty Boo because I knew it would annoy her. It had been quite some time since she turned fifteen that she had threatened to kill anyone who called her Betty Boo again. She made this threat especially to her sister Angus, who had given her the nickname. So, we only used that name to annoy her, just like now. But this time, it didn't work. That redheaded witch just smiled even more.

"It's funny. They force you to dress like a woman, and my father wants to put me in a nun's habit. What do you think, Cousin Ailan? He won't let me be a model, but luckily, I have my mother and grandfather on my side," Connelly explained to Hanna.
