HTW Part 3

"What the hell is all of the commotion?", asked Cara.

"All of you! Out! Now!", cried the old woman. "Your foolish friend has doomed us all! How were you even able to enter there? That room had a force field around it. It is where I keep all of the artifacts of the dark spirits."

"Dark spirits? Force fields?" Asked Angela. "You're crazy! What are you talking about?"

"You'll know soon enough my dear—get out!" She exclaimed.

"We just can't take you anywhere." Zoe quipped jokingly, as they left the building.

"What's going on?", asked Scott.

"I don't know." Replied Cara. "Apparently Angela went some place she wasn't supposed to go. That lady in there is crazy."

"I feel terrible." Said Angela. "I don't know why I felt so compelled to handle someone else's personal property. I think I lost her rare pet spider."

"I don't get it." Said Cara. "So many shelter cats, and dogs in need of good homes. Why would anyone want a spider?"

"Maybe she's an arachnologist?", replied Bobby. Zoe quickly laughed at her boyfriend.

"Ha!", she said. "I'm surprised you even know that word."

"You're just too cute for words." Bobby replied with a smirk, "I'm hungry, let’s go find something to eat." With that the six of them got in to the car, and started to look for a diner.

The old woman started to barricade herself in her building. She began hanging charms from the light spirits all over the place.

Why, thought the old woman. Why didn't I keep a better eye on them? How was she able to enter the forbidden room? Dear God! Why did she have to let him escape?

The room itself was full of dark charms, and enchanted items that once belonged to her son. Unfortunately because they had been protected by powerful dark magic, they couldn't be destroyed. All she could do was lock them up in the room, and place light magic charms around it.

Before the girl came, it had worked. No one was even able to see that room, the charms had usually given on lookers the illusion of a blank wall. But somehow she had seen the entrance. There was only one logical explanation for why the girl was able to enter. The spider goddess was dying, and a replacement had been chosen for her.

I defeated the spider goddess, and my son decades ago. She thought. Although the queen had been defeated in battle, she had survived. The queen had been weakened, but she had not been destroyed. But why was she dying? The queen had always been the most powerful of the darker spirits. Unless she had given her powers to someone else, but who?

'Hello, mother!", a dark voice sneered. The old woman turned around, as her son stood before her. But he wasn't human, and he wasn't in the spider's body that she, and the lighter spirits had imprisoned him. All she could do was look upon him with terror.

"You-you're a-a-", she began.

"I believe drider is the word you're looking for." He replied.

"How?", she cried.

"The sweet virgin blood of the siren, the one with the fiery hair." He replied. "The one who's blood broke my curse, who the goddess herself has chosen to take her place. She chose her because she knew I'd be fond of her. She knew I was looking for a bride. So when you turned me into a spider so many years ago, the goddess gave me her life force. I was waiting for the perfect mate, whose human blood could release me from my spider prison. But I hadn't realized how much the goddess had blessed me. I should thank you mother. I am more than a human, I am a drider."

"I stopped you once!" Cried the old woman, "I can stop you again!"

"With what?", he asked. "You no longer have any powers. It took all of them to defeat my followers, and me. True you all but destroyed the goddess. But she isn't dead, not yet! See she had a choice. Either keep what little power she had left for herself, or give it to me and make me even more powerful than ever. That is why I stand before you as a drider, a spider god. Soon I will bless my little siren with my seed, and take her as my queen. It is the goddess’s reward for my loyalty. I've searched for a bride for years, and the goddess has finally delivered her to me. The goddess’s time as the spider queen has come to an end, and my fiery haired angel's reign is about to begin."

"And you don't think that the goddess was angry that you never chose to be her king?" , his mother asked.

"The spider queen was a dark spirit, a dark goddess." He explained. "She had no use for feelings of love, or devotion. All she wanted was from my followers, and me, was to grow and multiply. I promised her that I would lead a group of devoted followers in her name. But just as the moon goddess blesses the werewolves, with an ideal mate. The spider goddess does the same for her followers, but only a lucky few. As leader of her followers, I was entitled. My followers were allowed to collect their own harems, but the women that they had chosen were mainly used for breeding."

A wicked grin soon appeared on his face, as he continued to taunt his mother.

"Although my followers did thoroughly enjoy their company. It's amazing how many times one can drug, and fuck a woman into believing that she’s in love with her captors. My original followers were killed in the mystical battle, but their offspring with the harem survived. All sons I might add. The two known as Cara, and Zoe will become part of the new harem, the first two of many. Just as my angel's blood turned me into a drider, their blood will do the same for the children of my original followers."

"And how many of those offspring are yours?", she asked in anger.

"Sadly, none of the offspring are mine." He replied. "I was waiting to breed with a mate for myself to love, and only myself to love. I am glad I waited. The fiery haired one will bare my daughter, your granddaughter. She shall be the spider goddess reborn. And with my loving queen by my side, our daughter will bless us with the power of the entire Bayou."

"You're insane!", cried his mother. "I tried to teach you the difference between right and wrong, and on how to use the gifts that had been granted our ancestors for thousands of years! But you were tempted by the dark spirits of the Bayou! What happened to you? I tried to raise you to be a good boy!"

"Oh really mother!" He exclaimed. "A good boy? Like my father, or my brother? You protected the Bayou, and did all you could to keep mankind from destroying it. And how did your beloved light spirits thank you. Hmm? My father, my younger brother, your husband! Your son! They were attacked, and eaten alive by alligators of that same Bayou! Where were your light spirits, mother? Why didn't they protect, or at the very least save them?"

"Your father should have known better.", she replied. "He knew that section of the Bayou was dangerous. If I had known he was taking your brother out there to go fishing, I would have talked him out of it. He knew to respect the Bayou, and be cautious of the dangers that surrounded it. But he was reckless that day, and he and your brother paid the ultimate price. The sad truth is, sometimes bad things happen to good people."

"And sometimes good things happen to bad people." Her son replied. "The goddess came to me the night of their funeral. She said if I followed her, instead of your so called good spirits of the Bayou, that I could gain ultimate power. Not only that, she would always watch over the people I loved."

"Really?", his mother asked. "Does that include me?"

"It did, at one time.", he replied with a cold look in his eyes. "But that was before you chose your precious light spirts over me. You know normally, out of respect for the goddess, I don't believe in killing women. Besides, they do serve such an erotic purpose. But in your case, I'm going to make an exception. I doubt the goddess would mind, since you are responsible for her dying."

As his mother looked at him, her face was eerily calm. She should have been terrified, but she wasn't. The old woman knew this day would come. And as she had stated before, sometimes bad things just happened to good people.

"Well then," she replied. "I assume that's why you're here. You've come to kill me. So why don't you just go ahead, and get it over with."

Her son looked at her, as he flashed a wicked grin.

"Oh no mother." He replied. "You're not worth my time. Besides, if I were to kill you, it would be too quick and painless. As you know, I have an entire family to feed."

What she hadn't known, was that his tarantula offspring, of his original followers, had been hiding in the shadows the entire time. Her eyes widened in terror, as they quickly made their way out. Before she even had a chance to react, they were soon crawling all over her. She screamed in both horror and pain, as they sunk their fangs into her flesh. Their acid like venom soon entered her body, breaking down every living molecule inside of her.

Her son let out an evil laugh, as he watched his followers devour his own mother from the inside out. As they finished their dinner, the spiders crawled off of their evening meal. The drider just laughed as he looked at the hollowed out lump of flesh, that had once been his own mother.

"Good night, mother dear. Be sure to say, 'Hello.', to dad and junior for me."
