Chapter 4: BARGAIN FOR A BREEDER.
LUCIUS’ point of view.
I paced back and forth in my tokay chamber, a dark shadow looming over my beta. “ I need a breeder and I need one now,” I growled, my voice low and dangerous.
My beta, kneeling before me, bowed his head in submission. “ of course, your majesty,” he said, his voice trembling slightly. “I will do all in my power to ensure that you have the best breeder the pack has to offer.”
I stopped in my tracks, my eyes narrowing to slits.
“There is word that the alpha of Blood Moon Pack, just got a new breeder. This breeder Raine was forced into marrying the alpha’s son.” I continued, my voice like the chill of a winter night. “A cursed omega, my very special spy said.”
My beta’s brow furrowed, a puzzled expression crossing his face.
“Your majesty, are you sure? The alpha’s son is known for his cruelty and missing mates. And since you mentioned cursed, I am not sure this omega is one who you would want to relate with.”
“Cursed? Omega?” I said, with a laughter that echoed through the chamber. “ all the better,” I purred, my face fixed on the flickering flames of the nearby brazier. “I want a breeder who is weak, malleable and easy to control. And now if she has a curse, that is good. Perhaps it will give her an edge and make her more vulnerable to me.”
“And what will happen to her after she has given you an heir?” My Beta ventured, his voice shaking slightly.
My lips curved into a cruel smile, “she will be discarded of course,” I said, my voice dripping with contempt. “A breeder is nothing but a vessel for my seed, a means to an end. Once she has fulfilled her purpose then I will throw her out like the piece of trash that she is. I can not keep an infertility woman in my pack, she’ll just be a waste of time and anger me everything I see her face”
My beta lowered his gaze. “And what is she fails? What if she does not give you an heir?” He whispered his voice barely audible. “ what if she does not conceive? What if her curse happens to stop her from conceiving a child, or what if her curse happens to affect the child she will give birth to? Are you willing to accept a cursed child borne of a cursed omega breeder to be your heir Lucius?” My beta asked, his voice calm and measured.
My expression hardened, my eyes cold as ice.
“Then she will suffer the same fate as those who had disappointed me in the past.” I growled, my voice a dangerous rumble. “I will not tolerate failure especially not one that comes from a cursed omega. She will be dealt with accordingly, that everyone out there will learn a lesson from her. And about her curse affecting my child, if she happens to get pregnant I will consult with the most powerful witches and sorceresses in the land and make them break the curse on my child. I want only what is perfect and nothing less.”
My beta nodded. I could tell from his shaky hands that he was struggling to maintain his composure. “Of course your majesty,” he murmured. “If the breeder failed to provide an heir then she would surely die. And if she provided a cursed one we will break the curse.”He whispered underneath his breath but my ears caught it.
“I know you are worried about her Hunter,” I said and turned to face my beta. “But there is one more thing that I want you to know. Make sure the breeder understands that she will be watched at all times, day, noon, evening and nights. She will be monitored and her every movement will be scrutinized. If she dares to disobey me or if she even thinks about escaping...” I trailed off, leaving whoever heard me or was hearing me to complete my threat.
Just then, the heavy wooden doors of the chamber burst open and one of my Palace’s guards appeared, his face showed that he came with urgent news.
“Your majesty!” He gasped, bowing low to the ground. “There is news. The alpha’s son has been wed. The bride is said to be a cursed omega named Raine, the one we believe will be the breeder.”
My smile widened, my lips curling into a feral smile. “And when will the breeder arrange at the palace?” I demanded, my voice trembling with anticipation.
The guard swallowed hard, sweat beading in his brow as I watched him struggling to maintain his composure. “The alpha’s son has requested an audience with you, Your Majesty,” The guard stammered. “He said that the breeder will accompany him when he arrives. We shall be expecting them soon.”
My lips pulled back in a snarl, exposing my fangs. “Good,” I growled, my gaze narrowing on the guard. “You are dismissed. Inform my Beta of any further developments, and make sure the palace is prepared for our new guests.
And remember I will not tolerate any mistakes so do not leave room for one.”
As the guard scurried out of the chamber, I turned back to my Beta who looked so calm.
“Prepare the dungeon,” I commanded my voice cold and hard as steel. “I want the breeder kept there until I am ready to claim her. She must understand that I am not a man to be trifled with. Her fate and her life is in my hands and I will brook no disobedience.”
My beta nodded, his hands trembling as he left the room.
As I watched my beta, Hunter go, a cruel smile played across my lips.
“Soon,” I murmured to myself, my fingers curling into fists. “Two days until I have the breeder in my grasp, and then she will learn what it learns to be mine. How dare she question the alpha so much? My own messenger!”
