Chapter 3

Zachary was the Alpha of the Dark Moon Pack which was the second biggest pack behind the Silver Blue Pack, which was led by the Alpha of All Alphas. Currently, he had left all his work to his Beta as he needed to stay in the human world for a while to manage his multi-million worth business which funded all of their pack’s necessities. On his first night of arrival at the main city, he met with his friend who had invited him to attend a showcase, as his friend called it. Since he had nothing much to do for today, he willingly agreed.

He had no idea why they called it a showcase, especially when he was brought to a simple pub. Like every pub that he had been in, everyone was busy in both getting wasted and dancing their insanity on the dance floor. In there, he could see that everyone was living in their made-up world.

As he roamed his eyes, he had started to wonder if the place was initially intended for LGBT communities because the majority of he was seeing were same-sex humans who were being very intimate with each other. Later on, he saw a large group of men who just got inside the pub but went straight upstairs. He could not help but frown as curiosity built upon him.

"Hey bro, what are you looking at?" his friend, Marcus, asked him after he had tapped him on his shoulder before he followed Zachary’s gaze.

"Nothing," he replied simply as he shook his head.

"Oh come on, speak up," Marcus insisted.

Zachary sighed before he gulped down the glass of beer that was served to him on the counter before he took a deep breath and spoke up as he nodded his head towards the direction of the stairs. “Look at the two men who just got inside. They were both heading towards the staircase,” he mumbled.

Marcus followed his gaze and looked at him as he asked, “So… what about it?” afterwards, he drank his glass of beer.

"I was thinking, what's upstairs? As I've noticed, those men kept on going upstairs and no one has come down yet. I don’t think it's still the bar that is in here," he answered with full curiosity in his voice.

He saw when Marcus smirked upon realization of what he was curious about, "You don't know what's going on upstairs?" Marcus mumbled.

Zachary just shrugged his shoulders as he replied, "No. That's why I'm curious."

"You want us to go and check it out?" Marcus asked as he motioned towards the staircase where other men kept ongoing.

"Oh, forget about it, let's drink more,'' he replied instead, but his stares remained.

“Come on, go and look over there!” his wolf, Magnus, insisted inside of his mind.

Since the moment they had stepped a foot inside, his wolf had been giddy and restless. Zachary did not mind what his wolf had to say so Magnus continued, “I can feel that we will meet our mate soon… it can be tonight so check it out!”

Indeed, Zachary had been smelling an aroma of vanilla and jasmine which he had been ignoring as he thought that it might just be one of the perfumes among the many guests inside the club.

"How about let's go and check it, as the saying curiosity killed the cat. And besides, you might get surprised on what you will discover there," Marcus suggested, making him squint his eyes on him before he smirked.

He wanted to decline Marcus' suggestions, but Magnus kept on whimpering and annoying the hell out of him. Losing his patience, he took a deep breath and nodded to satisfy the whim of his wolf.

Marcus was his friend since they went to study in college. He was taking business management like Marcus. The two of them were from different species, but it never hindered their friendship, if more they could even share stories about their family with each other. After being friends, it came to the both of them that they coincidently had the same enemy; the king of the vampire’s Immortal Runner Clan who was Patrick Range, and his wife and the Alpha of all Alphas who was Colleen White who came from Silver Blue Pack.

This couple, a vampire and werewolf, were mates and got married. He and Marcus have the same goal to take revenge on this couple. Alpha Colleen was the reason why he became an orphan after she killed his father in their battle to take the throne of being Alpha of all Alphas. Though most stories he heard were that he had a big difference from his father, they said that his father was heartless. Compared to him, he was the opposite of his father.

Nevertheless, he had only one goal: to take revenge on the Alpha of Alphas. If he trained himself to be strong enough to fight with the alpha, he was going to challenge her.

"Come on," Marcus said after he slapped his lap while he was sitting on the stool, in front of the counter.

“Alright…" he responded after he stood up like what Marcus did before they both walked heading to the staircase. Zachary was in the middle of the staircase, following his best friend when the scent he caught earlier was now getting stronger.

He was sniffing the air for that smell while his wolf kept on rounding behind his head. "She's here...our mate is here… go get her," Magnus commanded.

"Oh, shit…" Marcus said after he stopped and turned on the corridor hurriedly that he almost bumped into him.

"Why? What happened?" He asked as he looked at Marcus with confusion before looking up ahead of them.

"There's a bodyguard, what if we're not allowed? Let's go back." Marcus suggested after he turned around.

The idea of Marcus made him furious inside of his heart, he can't leave without taking his mate with him. Especially that he could sniff the strong scents of his mate, that even Magnus was very happy knowing that their mate was inside.

"No… we can't go back,'' he mumbled. Suddenly three men arrived and were about to get inside. The two had an idea; they joined them and copied what they did when they took a mask from the side. They didn't notice earlier that there was a basket with numerous masks which had only one design, and written on it was the word showcase.

Together with the other men, the both of them entered the place, and what they had to witness inside was something that surprised them, well at least surprised Zachary as Marcus was not ignorant of that place after all.
