Aiden walked out of the classroom completely dejected. This exam had been much harder than he thought. A hand grabbed him and pulled him back. Ben looked agitated.

- Something is wrong ? Aiden asked.

Ben ran a hand through his dark blond hair before sighing.

- Something happened yesterday.

Aiden frowned and led her away, to a corner of the hallway, away from prying ears.

- Did you hurt someone?

Ben shook his head.

- You have... Am I going to have to hide a body because of you?

Ben lifted his head and gave her a hurt look. He put his hand on his chest theatrically.

- Your confidence in me gives me wings. Seriously Aiden, I still know how to control myself.

"Tell me what's going on then instead of beating around the bush," he ordered.

- Yesterday I met a girl. A hunter.

Aiden frowned. The hunters were becoming more and more aggressive. Initially, they only hunted dangerous wolves. Those who killed and injured humans. But as the years went by, they preyed on innocent wolves belonging to large packs. Wars between hunters and werewolves then broke out.

- You attacked him? Well, please tell me you didn't attack him.

- No, I didn't. And neither does she, for that matter. She was even surprised to see me. I don't think she was looking for werewolves. She told me she wouldn't shoot me.

Aiden thinks for a few seconds. He found it strange. In general, as soon as a hunter found himself in the presence of a werewolf, he would shoot it.

- So what is she hunting?

- That is the whole point, my dear friend.

Ben gave her a wink that made Aiden roll her eyes. The Beta was incorrigible. The ringing of his cell phone startled him. He hid it from Ben, who was trying to read upside down.

"Come home right away."

The message came from his mother. He put his cell phone in his pocket.

- I have to go. Have fun !

- What ? Cheater! You complain about being an Alpha, but that's really cool. Dry off whenever you want, Ben grumbled.

Aiden walked out of the establishment, a smile plastered on his face. What would he do without that stupid Beta by his side?

Heather listened carefully to what the student was explaining to her. This student, Rogue, if her memory wasn't failing her, had kindly agreed to show her around the school. Rogue was a pretty blonde girl with hazel eyes, petite, Heather was a head taller than her.

- Show me your schedule, please.

Heather handed him the piece of paper she didn't understand with a smile. Rogue scanned the names of the rooms before giving it back.

- You have history. I'll take you there, class will start soon.

Heather followed Rogue through the building. Luckily she was there, otherwise she would have gotten lost. They arrived in front of a room where there were several students. The professor had not yet arrived.

- Good, it's here. I hope you will be able to settle in quickly. If you need, here's my number.

She handed him a piece of paper. Heather took it thanking her. She then entered the room and took her seat at the back, next to a boy with dark blond hair, athletic build and masculine features. He was really attractive. And when he laid his clear blue eyes on her, the girl blushed and lowered her head.

He stared at her insistently and seemed shocked to see her. She looked up before giving him a shy smile which he didn't answer. He was still looking into her eyes, his mouth half open. Finally, he leaned towards her.

- Hi, he breathed. My name is Ben and you?

She stood there for a moment. This totally hot guy was talking to her. She pulled herself together quickly so as not to look crazy.

- Heather. I'm new, she felt compelled to clarify.

Ben gave her a charming smile that made her heart feel funny. Her cheeks flared up again. She cursed internally. She looked ridiculous.

- Yes, I noticed, he underlined with a wink.

Heather bit her lower lip. This boy made her everything. Strangely, she felt safe with him.

- You must not be familiar with high school, he continued. If you like, I can explain to you how it works.

- Thank you, that's very kind of you.

- Nice, that's my middle name.

Heather smirked. The entrance of the history teacher put an end to their discussion. The young girl turned away from Ben and followed the course as best she could - without staring at this cannon that served as her classmate. The latter was not shy to give him a look.

The ringing startled her. She put away her notebooks and books and stood up. Ben stood in front of her and towered over her from his giant height. He must have been five feet tall, she was sure of that. He held out his hand to her, which she stared at for a moment without understanding. The latter was huge and she had the impression that he could crush his with a simple squeeze.

- I'm going to take you to a quieter place, you'll see, it's cool.

Heather nodded before placing her hand in his. He then led her through the corridors to finally find himself outside. The sun was slowly setting, giving the sky a pinkish color. They sat down on a pale wooden bench engraved with initials.

- How long have you been here? Ben asked suddenly.

Heather noticed that tact was not her greatest quality, far from it. It softens him instead of irritating him.

- Yesterday morning. I have the impression that this city is peaceful.

He glared at her before continuing.

- Oh, do you think so? That's because you didn't stay here long enough.

- I used to live in San Francisco before.

- Oh. It's not next door. Why did you leave?

Heather opened her mouth before closing it. A sharp pain had settled in the heart. She gave him a small smile.

- It's... I don't want to talk about it, she confessed.

He raised his arms, as if threatened by a weapon.

- Promise me you didn't kill someone and you're on the run, he joked.

Heather laughed and pushed him gently. He laughed back before being interrupted by the ringing of his phone. He took it out of his pocket, read the message he had received and frowned, obviously displeased.

- Something is wrong ? Asked the girl.

He shook his head and put his cell phone away.

- If all goes well. He's just a friend that I respect a lot who has to go away for a few days.

Heather nodded softly, she didn't know what to say.

- It will allow us to spend more time together before you find him more handsome than me and you fall in love with him, he grumbled.

Heather nearly choked on her own saliva. She looked at him, her eyes wide. He burst out laughing.

- Just kidding, I'm the prettiest, he laughed.

The young girl laughed softly, while wondering if he was serious. She watched him for a few seconds. He didn't seem serious at all, which made him all the more attractive.

"I wouldn't say that," she tried.

He pretended to feel hurt before his phone rang again.

- It's your friend ? she asked.

He nodded before frowning.

- He's in the parking lot, waiting for me.

- I thought he had to leave.

- Yeah, but he has a few things to pass to me first.

He jumped up, so quickly he surprised Heather. He then extended his hand to her again, which she took without hesitation this time. The warmth of his palm surprised her, it wasn't that hot. He pulled her forward to get her up, then he guided her through this maze.

- By the way, you still haven't told me.

Heather glanced at him as they walked through the main door, leading to the parking lot.

- What ?

- If you find me beautiful or not.

Heather, taken aback, burst out laughing. He seemed to be waiting for an answer from her. She then really observed him. She reviewed her jeans that were a little too tight for her muscular legs, as well as her gray t-shirt, leaving no mystery about her perfect musculature. Her rather long, messy dark blond hair, her blue eyes which pierced her and seemed to read her like an open book. The girl leaned towards him, and whispered in his ear.

- I think the adjective "beautiful" is far too below what you really are.

She then moved away from Ben who was smiling like a fool. Heather then made her way to her car. She heard the sound of a vehicle stopping behind her. She froze instantly. She felt strange, as if her body wanted to go the opposite way. She felt drawn like a magnet, but shook her head, regaining composure before getting into her car.
