His face seemed to show concern before quickly going back to normal. He felt bad for her because she was his Luna. The whole pack was excited to find out that they finally had a Luna. Once I told them they would have to wait to meet her, I could feel the sadness from everyone.
Everett sighed as he thought about what to say, « I will tell you what she told me. I still stand by the fact that it is not my place to tell you what happened. I, myself, do not even know everything. I could also tell she was hiding something while she was talking to me, but I didn’t push it. » Everett said all this with a sad expression on his face. I was excited but also nervous to know. I have hope that one day she will be willing to tell me everything that happened.
« You have to promise you will try not to get to angry at what I am about to tell you, » Everett said giving me a pointed look. I only nodded my head. I knew I could only do so much to control my wolf.
He looked skeptically but continued, « Madelyn told me that she was a rogue not by choice. She was taken from her pack during a rogue attack. She didn’t understand why they didn’t kill her and the others that they took as well because they said they killed everyone else, » I growled quietly at the thought of someone trying to kill my mate. Everett looked at me while continuing to talk, « she said that they would beat them for the smallest of things. Madelyn said it was awful and that she wished everyday they would just kill her so she wouldn’t have to endure the pain. » Everett finished while looking sad.
I was both angry and sad. I got up and started pacing not knowing what to do. I wanted to punch a wall, but also run to Madelyn and stay by her side and never let anyone hurt her again. Everett watched me while I had this internal struggle.
« We will find whoever did this to her and make them pay, » my wolf Ian said to me while also having the same emotions as me. Ian had been quiet since we found Madelyn. He could tell something was wrong and didn’t want to scare her.
I eventually sat down feeling defeated. « What should I do ? I don’t want to scare her, but it is hard to be away from her. » I told Everett while leaning back. I was truly at a lose.
« I would just give her time man. She needs time to process everything. » Everett was trying to reassure me. But I could barely focus with Clover trying to push through the block I had up.
« Marcus ! Madelyn is awake and is freaking out ! » I quickly jumped up and ran upstairs with Everett close behind me. I hurried my way upstairs and got to the door to see Clover trying to calm down a very scared looking Madelyn.
« Madelyn it is okay. You are safe here with us. We will not hurt you, » Clover was trying to calm her down. I went to step forward when Madelyn jumped up and ran past us. She ran past everyone and down the stairs. Madelyn was out the door before we could stop her.
« Madelyn ! » was all I could yell while trying to chase her. Looks like I will get a taste of the rogue runner.
I slowly started to wake up from my sleep. I sighed in bliss not realizing how much I missed a bed. The bed I was sleeping in felt wonderful. I hadn’t slept in one since I was taken. My bliss quickly started to go away when I saw the door start to open to the room. A lady I had never met was walking into the room.
She was heavily pregnant and looked like she was going to have her baby any day now. She had blonde hair that came just past her shoulders. Her eyes were a nice shade of hazel. I wasn’t sure who this woman was or why she was in this room. Marcus told me that no one would come in here and that he would keep the pack away.
My mind went into overdrive. I quickly made my way off the bed and tried to put distance between us. I didn’t know this woman, but I knew no one was supposed to be in here.
« Who are and what are you doing in here ? You aren’t supposed to be in here, » I yelled trying to back away more. My back hit the wall by the closet. I quickly made my way to the window to see if I could make the jump out if I needed to. I realized we were on the fourth floor. If I jumped from this height, then I would surely break a leg.
I turned my attention back to the lady in front of me. Her eyes glazed over for a second only to turn back to normal just as quickly. I knew she had mind-linked someone and there would be more people soon.
« Madelyn it is okay. You are safe here with us. We will not hurt you, » the woman in front of me tried to reassure me just as more people made their way to the door. I didn’t want to be here anymore. I was scared that they were going to hurt me. I only knew one thing and that was I had to run. I quickly pushed past everyone and made my way down the stairs. It didn’t take me long to find the entrance and run through the door.
« Madelyn ! » was all I heard Marcus yell as I ran for the door.
« We have to go back. He won’t hurt. He will protect us. » Willow tried to convince me to go back. I quickly blocked her out and continued to run. It was late at night but over the years I had gotten good at seeing in the dark. I quickly made my way through the trees ducking and dodging low tree branches.
I could hear the pounding of feet on the ground behind me. I pushed myself harder to run faster. The sound quickly faded. I knew I was losing them. I kept running for a while longer until I felt I was a good distance away. I took a moment to sit on a fallen tree to catch my breath.
As I was sitting there, I heard movement in the bushes nearby. I got up to start running again when I was frozen in shock and fear.
« Not so fast little runner. You know we have been looking everywhere for you. You didn’t make it easy on us, but the boss will be happy to have you back, » the rogue in front of me said. He was one of the men who took me all those years ago and was a guard at the compound they kept us at.
I was going to make a run for it when two more guys came from the trees. I knew I could outrun them if I could get past them, but I felt scared and couldn’t move. All the memories of what happened to me started to flood back to me. I started to shake from fear that I would go back to that place. I didn’t notice that they were getting closer till one of them grabbed me. I started to try and fight him off, but he quickly hit me which knocked me to the ground. I could tell that was going to leave a bruise. He hit me again before picking me back up.
I did the one thing I knew I could do in hopes someone would hear me, « Marcus ! »
I continued to try and fight the guy who was holding me. I wasn’t going to go with them so easily. I brought my elbow back on the rogue’s head which caused him to drop me. I then punched him in the stomach and kicked his legs out from under him causing him to fall to the ground. I started to run back in the direction that I came from.
One of the other rogues tackled me to the ground. He quickly got up and picked me up. He then slapped me across the face which knocked me to the ground. At this point, I was crying. Crying from the pain in my face, from the thought of going back, and because no one had come to save me. Maybe Marcus didn’t care about me. Maybe I was wrong in that he might actually protect me.
« You little bitch. I tried to do this the easy way but looks like you picked the hard way, » the rogue said while hitting me in my ribs repeatedly. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were broken. As he went to hit me again, I heard the most fierce growl come from behind me. The rogue quickly backed away from me with fear written all over his face. He paled and tried to run away. More wolves came from the trees and surrounded us. The three rogues looked scared. The wolves kept snarling and growling at the rogues.
The rogue thought it would be smart to try and grab me. This only caused all the wolves to growl and one came to stand in front of me. The wolf was beautiful with black fur all over. He had hints of gray fur at the tips of his ears and on his chest. I quickly realized this was Marcus by the size of his wolf. Most Alphas are larger than the regular werewolf.
The rogue must have realized this too because he quickly had a smirk on his face. He must have realized that we were mates.
« I must say this is a real honor Alpha. However, seeing as we only came for the girl. We will be leaving with her. Besides, you don’t want her for a mate. She is broken, damaged, and dirty. She couldn’t possibly be what you want in a mate, » the rogue said all this while looking at me. It hurt to hear him say all those things about me. I knew they were true, but I wasn’t ready to admit that.
Marcus quickly growled to shut the rogue up. He lunged forward and tackled him to the ground. Everett stepped out from behind a tree with only shorts on. I am guessing he shifted to try and talk with Marcus.
