chapter 4

Lisa POV:

I woke up to a maid screaming then people's footsteps rushing around.

My eyebrows frown slightly before shaking my head.

Rolling off my bed, I walked toward my door.

I looked around the hall, wondering what was happening.

Then I slowly walked towards Ace's room.

There I saw Evelyn standing and some maids.

"How are you awake?" She whispered looking at her brother.

My eyebrows frown slightly, isn't she happy that her brother is awake?

"Uhm Evenly," I said quietly walking into the room.

Everyone snapped their head toward me.

Making me feel small.

"Yes, uhm everyone out, please," Evelyn said softly before looking back at her brother.

"Ace, this is Nurse Lisa, she's the one taking care of you." She said softly her eyes not leaving her brother.

It's like she couldn't believe he was alive.

Didn't she want him alive?

"Hello," I said quietly looking up.

Green eyes stared back at me, watching me like I was in a movie.

The room was dead quiet, Ace didn't say anything to me.

"Out." He said lowly his voice was hard to understand.

From the lack of not speaking for weeks.

Nodding my head, I turned around ready to walk out when he said.

"Not you Lisa, Evelyn out." He said.

A grasp left my lips before turning toward the siblings.

There was this tense air around them.

Evelyn wasted no time.

She didn't even look at me, just rushed out of the room.

Ace's piercing green eyes continued to scrutinize me as I hesitated near the door. The silence lingered, broken only by the distant sounds of commotion outside. I cleared my throat, breaking the quiet tension.

"How are you feeling, Ace?" I asked softly, maintaining a professional demeanor despite the palpable unease in the room.

His gaze didn't waver, and he finally spoke, his voice rough from disuse. "Alive. Thanks to you, I assume."

A faint nod acknowledged his words. "I'm here to help with your recovery."

He studied me for a moment longer before gesturing to a chair. "Sit."

As I took a seat, the room felt charged with unspoken emotions. I wondered about the complexities of the relationship between these siblings and the peculiar dynamics that surrounded Ace's awakening.

Ace's intense gaze never left me, making the air heavy with anticipation. I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to this situation than met the eye.

"Why did Evelyn react that way?" I ventured cautiously, seeking to understand the underlying tensions in the room.

He sighed, a mix of frustration and resignation evident in his expression. "Evelyn thought I was dead. For weeks, she believed I wasn't coming back."

I absorbed the weight of his words, realizing the emotional toll it must have taken on his sister. The room seemed to shrink as the unspoken history between them hung in the air.

"Survival comes with a cost," he continued, his gaze distant. "I wasn't sure I wanted to return."

His vulnerability surprised me, and I wondered about the struggles he had faced during his apparent absence.

"I can't force you to embrace life again, but I'm here to support your recovery in any way I can," I offered, trying to convey genuine concern.

Ace's eyes softened momentarily, revealing a vulnerability beneath the stoic exterior.

"I didn't expect someone like you to be the one taking care of me."

The cryptic comment lingered, leaving me with more questions than answers about Ace's past and the circumstances surrounding his recovery.

I nodded, acknowledging the complexity of the situation.

"People often surprise us," I said, meeting his gaze. "I'm here to assist with your physical recovery and provide support as you navigate this."

Ace's eyes held a mixture of skepticism and curiosity. "What happened to me?" he inquired, his voice steady.

"You were found unconscious, and your condition was critical. It took a considerable effort to stabilize you," I explained, choosing my words carefully.

He frowned, piecing together the fragments of his memory. "I don't remember much."

"That's not uncommon after such an ordeal. Your body needs time to heal, and memories may resurface gradually," I reassured him.

"Uhm you need to have your bath now," I said standing up from my chair.

Ace continued staring at me, making me feel funny inside.

What's up with him and staring like This?

"I need to help you up, but first, uhm clothes," I mumbled looking around the room.

When I spotted the closet, I Walked toward it.

"Do you like hoodies or do you want a shirt?" I asked looking around his closet.

"Grey joggers and black top." I heard him say.

Nodding my head, I pulled out what he wanted before turning back toward him.

Only to see his eyes already on me again.

I guess I have to get used to his staring.

"Do I need to call in a maid for you?." I asked softly.

His head is title to the side before looking at his legs.

"I thought you were my Nurse?" He asked with a smile.

I hummed before looking at the door.

With a breath, I walked toward the large man.

I placed my arm under his armpit but fell on his body.

"Omg I'm so sorry." I squeal out standing up.

Only to find him laughing.

It was so loud and cute, his eyes closed while his head title up.

I couldn't help but blush and look away.

"You thought you could carry me?" He asked softly when he was done laughing.

I nod my head slowly, looking back at his green eyes.

Ace shook his head before standing up slowly.

"I don't think my legs got injured Lisa, so I'm good, could you please go make Breakfast for me?." He asked as he walked toward his bathroom.

I looked at him for a second, questioning myself if I wanted to follow him to make sure he didn't fall.

He just woke up from a coma.

"Lisa?" I heard him say snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Yes, of course, what would you like to eat?." I asked.

Ace looked at me for a second before looking away.

"Anything you would like, I'd like both of us to eat together please." He said before closing the door.

Leaving me confused for a moment but again I just shook my head.

Walking toward the stairs.
