Sherry's POV:
I was trembling and in pain. For weeks, I had been walking aimlessly and waiting for my death. I was hungry and thirsty, yet I couldn't help myself.
My own mate had blinded me and wished I was dead. I accepted my fate and honestly had a change of heart at the last moment.
I wished for everything I had back as part of the pack, yet I couldn't appreciate it.
"Neo," I whispered in silence as tears rolled down my cheeks.
I missed him with all my heart, as much as I missed my wolf. For days, I tried to commit suicide, yet I was so scared of the burning pain I would experience. As much as I wanted to leave the face of this earth, I was a coward, waiting for someone to lay their hands on me and end me.
By the sound and a few conversations I had picked up while being dragged here, I knew that I had crossed a pack's territory. Their growls of warning made me stand still, not wanting to move to upset them.
When a light voice asked me what I was doing on their land, I was speechless. For weeks, I couldn't utter a word but sobbed. My throat was hurting badly and dry.
My silence was taken as disrespect, and I was dragged even more.
All I could rely on was my sense of hearing.
I was pushed onto a cold floor after the sound of an opening cell was heard.
I struggled to sit upright on the ground but luckily managed.
"Our Alpha will see you soon," the man with a light voice said before I heard a few footsteps heading away.
As I sat there, I couldn't help but think of my previous pack.
Ian was at times cold to me, although at times he acted as if he liked me, even if it was pretense. He even gave me a chance to be with my mate. How could I be so heartless and try to harm him when he was the one that gave me a home?
When I heard footsteps, I tensed. The presence that was approaching me was that of a higher rank. I had no wolf, yet I still could sense his presence, which meant he was very dominant.
I embraced myself for everything bad that could happen, but shockingly the footsteps stopped close to where I was.
Just like that, I heard some movements and then footsteps going back further and further away.
I didn't know whether to be relieved or feel sad about what was happening.
As I was about to relax, I heard light footsteps approaching again.
The same presence I had felt was back, and this time I could hear heavy breathing.
The bar metal made a clicking sound, which was later met by silence.
I could feel that he or she was still there, just looking at me without speaking a word.
I felt another person's presence, which made me uncomfortable, but his or her presence wasn't as intimidating or dominant as the other.
"Woman, how did you find yourself in our territory?" A light voice, which I had recognized as the man who had dragged me in here, asked.
I opened my mouth to respond, but my voice couldn't come out.
"Lady, let me just put it in a simple human way that you could understand. This land belongs to bandits that immediately kill those who trespass. You were found trespassing, and for that, we are required to kill you. But before that, our leader would like to know a few things about you, perhaps he would let you go." He said as I smiled.
Finally, I was going to be killed since I couldn't bring myself to do it.
Trespassing in a pack immediately led to death, that I knew, and that's exactly what I longed for.
"She isn't normal." The man whispered, then cleared his throat.
"Are you perhaps deaf too? There is nothing to smile about, lady, because soon you will have to die by our hand." He said as I felt the burden, which was hurting my heart, being lifted.
"I know, and I'm glad to die by your hand." I forced the words out as tears rolled down my cheeks.
Finally, I could rest.
As I was walking aimlessly in the forest, I was bitten a few times by somethings. Sadly, they weren't venomous because I was still alive. I cut myself a few times when I fell down or hit into something, but still, I survived. My whole body was very sore, and I had no strength to fight back.
I had no idea if it was the goddess's mercy that shielded me for weeks or not. All I knew was that I wasn't raped or used by anyone as I survived it all.
It was a miracle that I was still alive without good food or a proper drink. The only food I ate was some leaves, and the only water I drank was the morning dew that covered the leaves next to the place where I rested. I was shocked by my survival. However, I didn't want to continue being miserable.
"What did you say?" A deeper male voice asked, and I could detect anger in his voice.
I was scared by how he sounded, and my heart picked up instantly, beating in its own fast rhythm.
Speaking out again would clarify things and grant me my death, so I gathered my courage and spoke.
"Please, help me out. Kill me. I have tried a few times to kill myself, but I am a coward who is afraid of the intense pain I would experience. If someone would give me a quick death, I would die happily," I answered softly.
I heard the loud sound of the cell opening, then footsteps. When large, strong hands grabbed each side of my shoulders, I tensed.
"Do you really mean that?" The man asked in a loud, angry voice.
I hesitated but smiled to assure him I was very serious.
I had nothing left to fight for and no reason to keep living.
"Yes," I answered honestly.
He dropped his hands and moved.
"Since you don't want your own life, then your life will be mine from now on," he said as he frowned in shock.
"What?" I asked in disbelief.
"You crossed my territory, thus putting your life in my hands. I am the one capable of deciding your fate, and I choose to keep your life. As of today, your life is mine," he said as I violently shook my head.
"No, please kill me. I'm begging you," I screamed out.
"No," he responded harshly, then I heard his footsteps move further.
I quickly moved my hands on the ground, hoping I would touch him as I kept on begging for mercy.
I wanted to be put to rest, not to be left alive! Why was the goddess doing this to me?.
